Well, for a variety of reasons the inside of our house isn't getting done quickly but we're ok with that since our outdoor space is just as important to us as the indoor space. We also love to work outdoors when the weather says work outside.
During the summer and fall we continued to do a few other things around the property in addition to yard maintenance and gardening.
1: Planing wood for our future ceiling project.
When we finish our ceiling we'll be using pine boards that we helped mill and then brought home to dry outside, knowing that it had to be planed and moved into the house to finish drying before winter.

The big reveal...would be wood look ok? |
Yes! It looks great!
We enclosed the area outside the sliding doors to contain sawdust. |
It took 11 hours over three days to plane all the wood.
Everything had to be run through the planer twice. |
Tiring but rewarding.
Pile gone! |
Next!
We're pleased to report that no plants were injured in the process.
Now it's stacked up as out of the way as possible until we need it.
2: Finishing the Wood Shed
Jim put the finishing touches on our wood shed next to the driveway.
3. The Patio is finished now that the planing is done.
We only had one of our two patio modules built before summer. Once the garden was put 'to bed' and the planing was done we finally made the time to finish the patio. It's a great space, winer or summer.
4: The driftwood compost containers Where there's a veggie garden, there's also compost. We were trench composting but it was a very labour intensive endeavour and we had WAY too much compost from our plants to handle it any other way. So we went to the beach and picked up our supplies and voila. A great compost site just a few steps outside our fenced yard.
And that's about it for house projects for now. More to come!!! Tricia and Jim Bowen
