Wood.
Love it, build with it, smell it, move it. Move it...Move it....Move it!
Since Jim and are pretty thrifty, we kept all the off cuts that might become future firewood. We stored them....sort of....but as June arrived we wanted to get the rest of the #*@! old pile moved to the new woodshed. Each Monday morning we tackled the project for a few hours...until it was done!
The new woodshed is right off the driveway. In the future we'll be able to have firewood delivered right on the driveway. It'll be fairly easy to get it put away. But we had our own wood to move.
From here.....what a mess.
To here...
The alder rounds were from the trees we cut down four years ago. They're super dry now, of course.
Red, the amazing wagon, to the rescue again.
We stored our gas cans and other stuff behind the alder. Sort of protected from wind and rain.
Our little stove will be super efficient so this should last us a while.
It's beginning to look a lot better! There's actually a roof of old timber nthere!
Jim took a lot of time placing each piece and making sure it was straight. This should last us a while, once we install the wood stove in the house. In the meantime, it's beautiful to look at!
The roof will keep this firewood dry in pretty much any winter conditions. We are so grateful at having all of this firewood for free. Just our labour. And it's a labour of love.
We transformed the old area into storage for 11 rubbermaid containers, gas cans and more. We had two pieces of corrugated metal, which we used for a roof and you have a new storage area! And no more storage locker fees every month.
Once we finished the storage area we noticed that the middle board has some pencil marks on it. On closer inspection it read "Harvey Moore". We call it a 'Harvey Bit' because Harvey owned this land many years ago and build the original house on the property. Thanks, Harvey!
Until next time.
