It's been a hectic few months so we haven't updated the blogs. We also have a number of wood related projects underway and we want to finish them before we post pictures. Plus we built a garden this spring. Blog on list. Busy times! Here are a few pics of our island in springtime and summer...
First off we have our local Public Works Lawn Maintenance Division.
These highly skilled professionals work for next to nothing. All you have to do is provide them with a little food...grass works well. Plus water and shelter and they're good to go.
This portable lawn mower and the fencing system are easily moved from location to location.
Where there's grass these locals take care of it!
We still head to the beach on a regular basis. We call it going to the Kaleva Lumber Store. Kaleva Road and beach run for a few km along the waterfront. We always find interesting rocks, trees, wood, birds and wildlife while we're there.
This old boat skeleton lies is in an old loft building that is slowly tumbling down. Next winter might see the end of the building. A shame.
In March, as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world we were swept up in the wave of goodness that the heart movement provided everywhere. Here are our hearts....
I did my bit with two heart-felt paintings in our window.
COVID-19 also turned our building schedule on it's head again. We shifted gears and started building a vegetable garden from scratch with what we could find on the beach, in our yard and our local forests. That's a whole blog alone but here are a couple of shots....In mid March we started transforming our outdoor space from this....
To this! We are very happy with the results and will share more pictures in a separate blog.
Hearts everywhere in Sointula, like the rest of BC. Plus a huge sense of pride at being Canadian!
We had a small Sointula July 1 parade then the social distancing choir sang Oh Canada at noon.
Our local tennis court...
We are not alone...
We've noticed far fewer pollen carriers. Here's one all of pollen.
An hour spent rock collecting for future house projects. Nice way to spend time any day!
Until then, stay safe, stay health, stay sane.
